SMIHA Kicks Off 5th Annual SMITOBER in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
At Sylvain Melloul International Hair Academy, we not only create talented leaders in the beauty and wellness industry but passionate community leaders that proactively support important causes. In line with this initiative, we are proud to announce that our 5th annual SMITOBER kicks off this first week of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Since 2014, we have invited our valued community members to participate in what has become a global, month-long campaign focused on raising awareness about the importance of early detection in the treatment of breast cancer. And given the consistent year-over-year growth, including the $5,000 that we raised last year, the unwavering enthusiasm and support that SMITOBER generates makes us proud to be part of such a dedicated group of people.
SMITOBER offers lively events and fundraising opportunities for students, staff, and the community in support of worthy organizations and health centers that provide essential services for those affected by breast cancer. We truly THINK PINK all month long by wearing pink t-shirts and selling BCA bracelets and pink hair clips. Our barbers also offer BCA ribbons as a design add-on for haircuts at our Academy.
This year’s proceeds from our 5th annual SMITOBER will benefit Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, a local center which delivers exceptional health services to patients and their families affected by breast cancer in Central Virginia. We believe that in supporting their nationally-recognized contributions, we can have a profound impact on those served. To donate online, please visit our SMITOBER campaign page.
